Taylor Swift Scores Top 10 at a Seventh Different Radio Format With ‘Exile’

“Exile” expands Swift’s scope of radio airplay chart top 10s to a seventh distinct format. In addition to now one on Adult Alternative Songs, she boasts 23 top 10s on Adult Pop Songs (the most among women), 18 each on Country Airplay and Pop Songs, 15 on Adult Contemporary, eight on Dance/Mix Show Airplay and one on Rhythmic (“Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, in 2015). Fifteen of her hits have reached the top 10 of the all-format Radio Songs list.

“Exile” is Swift’s second radio top 10 from Folklore; lead pop single “Cardigan” has peaked so far at No. 8 on Adult Pop Songs.

“The truth, in my view, is that most listeners just want to hear good songs and they trust us as a filter or curator for that experience,” Brad Savage, WAPS Akron, Ohio, program director, told Billboard after “Exile” debuted on Adult Alternative Songs in August. “There’s no question that Taylor’s record deserves its exposure.”

Folklore debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated Aug. 8 and has spent eight weeks total atop the tally, including on the latest, Oct. 31-dated/charts/billboard-200 survey. To date, the album has earned 1.7 million equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
